How to: Connect internal CD-ROM drive to sound card.
Solution:
Turn off the computer and disconnect external power cords. Remove the computer cover, connect the audio cable to the sound card and the internal CD-ROM drive, replace the computer cover, connect power cords, and restart the computer.
WARNING: Electrical shock hazard! Make sure the power is turned off and the external power cables have been disconnected before remove the computer cover.

CAUTION 2: Please observe steps to reduce the potential damage to computer components from electrostatic discharge.
NOTE: Connecting a sound card to an internal CD-ROM drive requires a special audio cable which is usually supplied with the sound card. The audio cable is commonly a four wire cable wrapped together in a gray or black sleeve with a plastic connector on each end. Not all sound cards and CD-ROM drives use the same type of audio cable connectors. Refer to the sound card and CD-ROM drive user manuals to determine the types of audio cable connectors. It may be necessary to order a new audio cable if the one that came with the sound card does not fit onto CD-ROM drive.
1) Remove the computer cover.
2) Locate the sound card and connect an end of the audio cable to the audio cable connector on the sound card.

NOTE 2: The audio cable connector is commonly labeled 'CD IN' or 'Audio IN'.
3) Connect the other end of the audio cable to the connector on the CD-ROM drive.
CAUTION: Connecting the audio cable to the wrong connector on the CD-ROM drive can damage the sound card and the CD-ROM drive. Refer to the CD-ROM drive's user manual to identify the correct connector for the audio cable.
NOTE: The audio cable connector is commonly labeled 'Audio'.
